PAUVRETE ET MORBIDITE DANS LA REGION DES PLATEAUX AU TOGO
Résumé
A l’instar des autres régions d’Afrique subsaharienne, la Région des Plateaux au Togo fait face au problème crucial de pauvreté qui constitue un frein au développement socio-sanitaire des populations. L’étude tente de cerner le lien qui existe entre la pauvreté et la morbidité à partir du cas de la Région des Plateaux au Togo. Elle prend appui sur une enquête sanitaire nationale, des observations de terrain et des résultats d’entrevues. L’analyse faite dans cet article a permis d’aboutir aux conclusions que les difficultés financières auxquelles font face les habitants de l’aire étudiée, constituent un facteur important de vulnérabilité sanitaire en raison de leur incapacité à se faire soigner dans des structures modernes. En retour, cette vulnérabilité sanitaire contribue significativement à aggraver la pauvreté.
Abstract
Like the other sub-saharan regions, the Plateau Region of Togo faces the problem of poverty which is an obstacle to the health of populations. The study attempts to identify the links between poverty and morbidity with the case of the Plateau region in Togo. The data used in the paper rely on the national health survey, field observations and the results of interviews. The analysis in this article resulted in finding that the financial difficulties faced by inhabitants of the area studied is an important factor of vulnerability in health due to their inability to seek treatment in modern structures. In turn, this vulnerability of the population contributes significantly to poverty.
